About
David L. Sable, MD. Retired cardiologist, 40 years in practice. Worked at Wilcox on Kauai. I play on 2 senior softball teams on Kauai, where there are a total of 20 teams (around 250 players almost all between 60-88 years old). You have supplied 6 or 7 AEDs to our league (KSCSA - Kauai Senior Citizens Softball Assoc).
We bought these through Nelson Chiba of the KFD about 3-4 years ago after one player had a cardiac arrest on the field and was resuscitated with CPR by bystanders (including myself) You gave a significant discount to us I believe.
We have a sharing arrangement among teams so that an AED is always present at the Saturday games, but every team does not have access to an AED for practices twice a week, including the team that I coach in the 70+ division.
I would like to personally buy an AED that my 70+ team can have available. The league is currently not willing to fund AEDs for all teams, but if I do this it might encourage the league to buy more, so that an AED can be available at practices as well as games.
I would probably be interested in the newest Philips AED, just because all of the league's other AEDs are Philips. But the Zoll3 also looks interesting. I am looking for long battery life and reliable service for battery/pad replacement.
